After much thought and prayer, on March 27th I decided to throw my hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for the 3rd District Missouri State Senate seat, the redrawn district which now covers Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Washington, Iron, Reynolds and the southern half of Jefferson Counties.
I realize that some of you right now may be saying “WHAT!?” Believe me, this wasn’t an easy decision on my part. Everyone realizes that I’m a conservative (okay, I’m a hardcore Constitutionalist) and I believe that our state and country need to remove the insiders and influence peddlers in our state government. The person I’m running against is an insider who is connected with the Republican establishment and special interests groups. And aren’t we sick and tired of them running our lives? This is, for me, one of those situations where if you’re not willing to get involved, don’t complain about the outcome.
This campaign will be a full grassroots type, with small contributions from friends, family and everyday citizens, no lobbyist or special interest groups. As my slogan states: “When politicians spend more on a campaign than the annual salary they will receive if elected, there is a problem!”
My hope is that you will find it in your heart to support me in this endeavor. It is always difficult to ask for contributions from friends and family, I know. I’m trying to make this as easy on everyone as I can. I have started “Campaign 1776” where my supporters can contribute $17.76 to help me put state government back into the hands of taxpayers. My campaign is grassroots and these contributions are more powerful than the big thousand dollar donations from lobbyist and special interest groups. You can contribute by going to our contributions page.
Please, if you feel you can support me by contributing or by volunteering, talk to your friends, church members and neighbors in your communities. I’m always available to speak to your group or organization. You can contact me and let me know how I can speak to your organization. If you have any questions, call me. My home number is 573-483-2965.
Respectfully,
Terry
